Hey ppl i read this in a book pls give your opinion?
A Hindu girl of 13 was forced to wear gold jewellery(bangles,earrings,necklace) and bindi by her mother who felt that girls should not walk around wearing nothing.She felt that a girl is the "Laxmi"of the house.But the girl refused to wear anything and wanted to be free.Her mother forced her a lot and also went to the extent of beating her.So finally she had to put the jewellery and bindi.Do your think the girl was right in refusing or the mother in forcing?PLs explain and give you opinion on it.
I was brought up in a household where the children would obey the parents and that was it. That said, I think she was wrong. I would have simply done what was asked of me and got on with life. But then again I don't agree with the mother's choice actions either. Beating your child is no way to go about it -- it teaches them nothing. I would probably have to read the book to properly understand it though.
